E29: The Father Effect - Our Redemption Story

Apryl shares insights from previous guests and wisdom that she has come to know over the years through the Word of God. As humans, we desire wholeness and health in our relationships. By taking us through Ephesians 4:20-31, Apryl gives us tools to move forward and glorify God.

Biblical wisdom includes acknowledging that we cannot hold our earthly fathers to biblical expectations if they do not know Christ. Apryl advises us to pray first, that they may come to know Him. And through Genesis 4, Apryl warns us against the destruction of sin and the temptation found in our own memories. One further piece of wisdom is found in doing the HARD things that the Word of God calls us to. HARD stands for Hearing, Accepting, Responding, and Daring. This acronym spells out the gospel as we develop a relationship with Christ, take hold of the authority of his Word, and do our best to live it out.

And yet, how are we supposed to accomplish the difficult tasks, set out in Ephesians 4, in light of our hurt? It starts with a relationship with Christ. As we are reminded of who we used to be, we continually choose to put that person off and we renew our minds by taking in God’s Word.

As we navigate frustrating relationships, Apryl sheds light on the fact that we can be angry, but we must be cautious in not sinning (Ephesians 4:26) when in anger. We are reminded to let the words that we speak build people up. The book of James states that a mature Christian is indeed a doer and a hearer of the Word. Our challenge is to live out the Word of God now.
